Event Details
Tisha B'Av is Monday Evening
(July 19, 7:30pm)
Tisha B'Av is the 9th day of the Jewish month of Av. It is sometimes referred to as the Jewish 911, as it commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples, both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av (the first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.E.; the second by the Romans in 70 CE.
At CBI, we will have a Tisha B'Av service on Monday evening, July 19, beginning at 7:30pm in the chapel. Please join Rabbi King-Tornberg as we explore how Tisha B'Av relates to our current relationship with Israel and how our tradition offers us motifs and images of comfort. Can these traditional ways of finding hope resonate for us today? Do they help us understand how we might relate to tragic and challenging events in the modern State of Israel?
Join us for a rich discussion, based in tradtitional text.
