WBI-Sponsored Public Art Tour (July 18, 2010 -- by Merle Serlin) Men and women are invited to WBI's public art tour. This year our tour will focus on a couple of venues in the heart of Sacramento. We'll be touring the art of the Hyatt Regency at Capitol Park as well as the Sheraton Grand Hotel. In the one-block walk between the two hotels we'll take a look at some of the exterior sculptures near the Convention Center. I recently toured these facilities with Dixie Laws, head of SMAC's (Sacramento Metropolitan Art Commission) docent program. I was surprised to learn there is a LOT MORE ART in those two hotels than I'd ever known about before. Dixie will be joining us again this year and brings a wealth of information with her. For those of you who can make it, we'll be starting with a late brunch at the Hyatt's "Vines" cafe. You can order a la carte or enjoy the Breakfast Buffet ($18) or the Continental Buffet ($12). The Hyatt will validate parking for those eating at the cafe with a minimum tab of only $10. To reserve a spot on this year's tour, please let me know. (You can email me, merleserlin@gmail.com or call 442-0464.) Last year we had a great brunch before embarking on our tour of the Light Rail Line. We had over thirty for brunch - but less than 20 had sent an RSVP . . . So please let me know this year. I need to let the Hyatt know how many to expect for brunch. Those who cannot join us for brunch, please meet us in the lobby of the Hyatt (1209 L Street). We'll begin the tour at 2:30pm. Please let me know if you'll be touring with us - even if you're not joining in the brunch. I want to be sure we have enough maps for everyone. Although there is no charge for the Art Tour, a donation of $5 per person is suggested. Donations will go to the Price Campership Fund and will be collected on the day of the tour. Thanks!
